Kerala Witnesses 12 Murders Of Women By Stalkers In Past Four Years, Says Report

A state government record revealed that 12 women have been killed by their stalkers in the past four years in Kerala.

Chennai: On the day of a gruesome murder of a college student by her classmate over alleged misunderstanding, the Kerala government’s records showed that at least 12 women have been killed by their spurned lovers or stalkers in the past four years. 

According to a report on Manorama, the state government record revealed that 12 women have been killed by their stalkers in the past four years in Kerala. Of which two murders happened in the past three months.

On Friday, a college student was murdered by her classmate who slit her throat on campus in Kottayam district of Kerala. The deceased Nidhina Mol, a third year student of Food Technology at St Thomas College Pala in Kottayam, completed her exam and was walking to the gate around 11.30 am when the incident took place.

While Nidhina Mol, was walking out of the classroom to the gate her classmate Abhishek Baiju stopped her and both of them started having an argument. Suddenly, in the spurt of anger, Abhishek took out a paper cutter and slit the throat of the young girl leaving her in a pool of blood. Nidhina was rushed to the nearby hospital but was declared dead. 

Later, Abhishek reportedly told the police that he did not intent to murder her but he took the paper cutter to harm his ownself and scare her.

In July, a 24-year-old BDS student was shot dead by a stalker identified as Rakhil Raghuthaman, who also took his own life after the incident at Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district. Rakhil barged into the house where Manasa was residing and locked it from inside. He reportedly shot her dead first and then killed himself.
