Chennai: Amid increasing incidents of attack against doctors in Kerala, a police officer has now been arrested for attacking a doctor of a private clinic allegedly since he was delaying treatment. 


According to a report on ANI, the incident occurred when the arrested police officer Ratheesh went to the private clinic along with his ailing mother at Noornadu in Alappuzha district. 


Speaking to IANS, the doctor Venkatesh said, he went to the restroom on the day the cop arrived and when he came out he was shocked to hear two people shouting in abusive language.

Then the doctor said that he went and asked them about the issue but was pushed down. They then started to speak in the abusive language despite telling them he was alone in the clinic, he said. 


One of them said that they had come up with their ailing mother for treatment, the doctor said adding, soon they started beating and hitting them. They then stoned, he said.


Later, the doctor suffered injuries to the head and was administered stitches. He also suffered fractures in his leg.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against the police officer. 


Recently, the number of attacks against doctors has increased in the state and the issue has been taken up by the medical community. The government also assured to act immediately in the case.
