Chennai: A cop has set an example by swiftly solving an expensive cycle theft case and took an extra step to hand over the stolen cycle to the victim at his doorstep. The gesture of the cop has come at a time when Madras High Court made a scathing remark and said that 90% of the police personnel functioning in the police department are corrupt or incapable.

According to a report on ABP Nadu, a kid named Krish lost his cycle on February 3. While Krish was playing indoors at his apartment on Purasawalkam High Road, a thief attempted to rob the bicycle worth Rs 25,000 parked at the entrance.

On hearing the sound, Krish went out and ran behind him but it was in vain. The thief fled the spot immediately. The parents of Krish, both of whom are doctors, lodged a complaint at Kilpauk police station and met the Deputy Commissioner demanding immediate action in the case.

Following this, DC instructed his team to look out for the thief and they traced him to be a man working at the renovation site of a restaurant in Shenoy Nagar.

The police picked up the man and started the investigation. Within hours, he agreed to have stolen the cycle to buy ganja and said that he parked it near a tea shop near Motcham cinemas.

Later, the police inquired the tea shop owner who had kept the bicycle with him since no one came in search of the vehicle.

The police seized the cycle. Then DC Karthikeyan took an extra mile to hand over the cycle to Krish at his doorstep, exactly where he lost his cycle nearly 10 days back.
