Three members of a family, including two children, lost their lives when the roof of their house collapsed in Madapura village, Savanur taluk, on Friday. Three other indivuals were also injured in the wall collapse. The victims were identified as Chennamma, aged 38, and two-year-old twin sisters, Anushree and Amulya, according to police reports, as quoted by PTI.

The family, comprising Muttappa Harakuni (35), his wife Sunita (30), his mother Yallamma (70), and Chennamma along with the twin daughters, lived in a 'kutcha' house that had been battered by continuous heavy rains since Thursday evening. In the early hours of Friday, while the family was asleep, the roof gave way, collapsing onto them.


Haveri Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar confirmed that Muttappa, his wife and his mother were rushed to a hospital where they are currently receiving treatment. 




Demanding a compensation, Former Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai tweeted, "As a result of the continuous rain in Haveri district, it was very sad to hear the news that three people, including two children, died after a house wall collapsed in Madapura village of Savanur taluk of Shigaon Assembly Constituency."

 

"Three more people were seriously injured in this incident and the state government should provide proper treatment to them. I request that the family of the deceased be given appropriate compensation from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. May the Lord grant peace to the soul of the deceased and speedy recovery of the injured," he said.
