Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Thursday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over remarks made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat during a gathering in Jharkhand.
In a post on X, Ramesh said, "I am sure the self-proclaimed non-biological Prime Minister must have got the news of this latest Agni missile which Nagpur has fired from Jharkhand targeting Lok Kalyan Marg."
Ramesh was referring to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's address to workers in Jharkhand where the RSS chief said that people want to become 'Superman' and there is no end to progress.
Without naming anyone, Bhagwat said that people want to become 'Superman' and don't stop there and want to become 'Devta'.
"There is no end of progress... People want to become superman, but he doesn't stop there, then he wants to become 'Devta', then 'Bhagwan', but 'Bhagwan' says he is a 'Vishwaroop'. Nobody knows whether there is anything bigger than that. But there is no end of development," RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said during village-level workers interaction programme in Bishnupur, Jharkhand.
Therefore, we should have some 'asamadhaan' (dissatisfaction) that we have all done this, but some things remain... The workers should understand this. One should always strive for more. Because every time, some things remain to be fulfilled," he added.
Though Bhagwat didn't name anyone while making the remark, Jairam Ramesh assumed that the RSS chief was takking a jibe at the prime minister. The Congress leader's comment comes amid speculations over differences between the BJP and RSS in recent months.
Following the Lok Sabha election results, where the BJP fell short of the majority mark, the RSS chief spoke about ending the Manipur conflict and the need for a consensus between the government and the opposition.
In May, BJP president JP Nadda said that the party's structure has become stronger and now it runs itself, adding, that the RSS is an 'ideological front'.
Speaking to Indian Express in an interview, Nadda, in response to a question on whether the RSS' presence within the BJP has changed compared to Atal Bihari Vajpayee's era, said, "Shuru mein hum aksham honge, thora kum honge, RSS ki zaroorat padti thi… Aaj hum badh gaye hain, saksham hai… toh BJP apne aap ko chalati hai (In the beginning, we would have been less capable, smaller and needed the RSS. Today, we have grown and we are capable. The BJP runs itself)," Nadda had said in the interview.
