A motorcycle rider was injured, and several vehicles were damaged in a chain collision on the Hebbal flyover in Bengaluru on Monday, August 12, 2024, after a BMTC Volvo bus driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus, which was traveling from the airport to HSR Layout, suddenly veered out of control, leading to a series of crashes involving multiple vehicles.

The entire incident was captured on the CCTV cameras installed in the bus. Footage from the cameras shows the bus driver appearing puzzled as he struggled to regain control of the vehicle.

The incident has left several onlookers puzzled since the bus was not over speeding at the time of the accident.

BMTC is currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the accident. Some believe it may have been due to brake failure, while others attribute it to driver negligence.

In a separate incident last week, a BMTC bus caught fire while traveling through a water-logged area in the city. Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was likely caused by a short circuit. According to a BMTC official, it is suspected that rainwater entered the battery, located at the rear of the bus, which may have triggered the fire. Over 12 people, including 10 passengers, managed to escape unharmed.

The electric bus operating on route number 500QA/9 was traveling from Tin Factory to Goraguntepalya when it caught fire around 10:40 pm on the road between Veerannapalya and Hebbal junction. The driver, Dasharath, noticed the fire and quickly evacuated all the passengers.
