Haryana: Senior Police Officer Shot Dead Outside His Home In Karnal

Haryana News: A senior official of the Haryana Police was allegedly shot dead by two bike borne assailants while he was taking a walk outside his home in Karnal. The incident took place in the late hours on Tuesday. According to media reports, the deceased was identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sanjeev, posted to the State Crime Branch in Yamunanagar district.

The victim had undergone an operation recently. He used to return home early to go for a walk in the evening following the operation, according to an India Today report. Two rounds of bullets were fired at the official. Of the two rounds of bullets, one hit him on the head and the other on his waist, the India Today report stated. The assailants fled the spot following the incident.

Several police teams were rushed to the scene. Sanjeev was rushed to a private hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The investigation into the matter has begun, and police are scanning CCTV footage of the area where the incident occurred to nab the accused.

Speaking about the incident, the DSP said that the body has been kept at the morgue of KCGMC and an autopsy will be done on Wednesday, as reported by Hindustan Times.
