Delhi: Students protesting against the authorities over the deaths of civil services aspirants in the coaching centre tradegy in Old Rajinder Nagar area, held a candle march on Saturday at the protest site. Several students gathered as they held the victims' pictures and candles in their hands and marched down the roads in the coaching centre area.
The protest, which began on July 28, following the deaths of three students, Tanya Soni, Shreya Yadav, and Nevin Dalvin, had entered its seventh day today.
After the candle march, the students were spotted protesting at night, as some of them raised slogans of 'Inquilab Zindabad'.
The students lost their lives as rain water entered the basement of a coaching centre named Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar on July 27 evening.
Since then, the students have been staging protests everyday against the authorities, demanding action against those repsonsible for the negligence, as a result of which the three UPSC aspirants lost their lives after drowning.
On Friday, the students were seen studying at the protest site. "We will continue our protest but studies are also important for us. So those sitting at the protest site have brought their study material here," Goutam, a civil services aspirant, said.
Goutam is also a part of the 15-member committee, formed on Wednesday, by the protesting students to decide on what the future course of action of the protest will be. The committee will also communicate with the authorities concerned.
Another student stated that as the protest will continue till all the demands are met.
"Other students are helping by providing daily newspapers and study material. Senior students are clearing doubts of the juniors at the protest site. Those who are a part of the committee are also studying when they are getting time to prepare for examinations," PTI quoted, Harish, a civil services aspirant, as saying.
