Amid Protests At Gudlavalleru College, Police Say 'No Hidden Camera' In Women's Hostel Toilet

On Thursday night, the students of Gudlavalleru College of Engineering in Gudivada started protesting claiming hidden camera in the women's hostel toilet and demanded justice by raising slogans.

The students of Gudlavalleru College of Engineering in Gudivada staged an overnight protest after the women students claimed to have discovered a hidden camera in the girls' hostel restroom on Thursday. The students also claimed that the videos from the camera were apparently circulated in the boys' hostel. However, Krishna District SP Gangadhar Rao said that no hidden cameras were found in the girl's hostel nor did they find such videos in the laptop of the detained student. 

On Thursday night, the students started protesting claiming hidden camera in the hostel women and demanded justice by raising slogans. Consequently, the police took one final-year BTech engineering student, Vijay, into custody on Thursday night.

The police have also seized his laptop and cell phones. The students also claimed that a female student helped him set up a camera in the women's hostel washroom. 

Krishna District SP Gangadhar Rao said, "There were no hidden cameras found in the girls' hostel during our investigation. The police searched the suspected student's laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic gadgets in the presence of students and college staff, but no videos were found. Girl students need not worry about this issue. Further investigation is in progress."

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has called for an investigation and instructed Director Collector Kollu Ravindra to conduct an inquiry, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.

On Friday, Pradesh Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh ordered an enquiry into the issue. Taking to X, the Minister said, "I have ordered an enquiry on hidden cameras allegations. Stringent action will be taken against the culprits and people responsible. I directed officials to ensure that these kinds of incidents do not recur in colleges."
