21 Dead And 40 Injured As Bus Falls Into Gorge In Jammu And Kashmir's Akhnoor
The bus, carrying passengers from Hathras, UP, was traveling from Jammu to the Shiv Khori shrine in Reasi district when it fell into a gorge near Kali Dhar Mandir on the Jammu-Poonch highway.
New Delhi: At least seven people were killed and over 20 injured on Thursday when a bus plunged into a deep gorge near the Tanda area in Akhnoor city, Jammu and Kashmir.
The bus, carrying passengers from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, was travelling from Jammu to the Shiv Khori shrine in Reasi district when it fell into the gorge near the Kali Dhar Mandir on the Jammu-Poonch highway.
The injured were taken to a local hospital in Akhnoor and the Government Medical College in Jammu, reported Kashmir Observer.

In a statement, the District Magistrate of Jammu said, "A bus carrying passengers from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has met with an accident near Tanda, Akhnoor, in Jammu. Rescue operations are underway."
More details on the accident, including the cause, are awaited.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha described the accident as "heart-rending" in a post on X. "I condole the loss of lives and pray to the almighty to give the bereaved families the strength to bear the irreparable loss. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured."

7 Of Family Killed In Accident
At least seven people were killed and over 20 members of the same family were injured on May 24 when a minibus they were travelling in collided with a truck on the Ambala-Delhi-Jammu National Highway in Haryana's Ambala district. The accident occurred near Mohra village, close to Ambala Cantt.
The injured were taken to a hospital in Ambala Cantt. According to a PTI report, police and local residents promptly arrived at the scene to assist with rescue efforts, helping those trapped in the severely damaged minibus.
Surviving family members said the crash occurred when the truck suddenly applied brakes. Three people died on the spot, while four others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
The police said the truck driver is absconding, but the truck has been seized. A case has been registered.
