Top-notch track and field athletes from across the world, including India, will take part in the mega event. The Indian contingent finalized for World Athletics Championships 2023 includes several promising athletes, aiming to secure a podium finish. Among all, Olympics gold medalist (javelin throw) Neeraj Chopra is the strongest medal hope for the Indian contingent. At last year's World Athletics Championships  in Eugene, Neeraj Chopra won silver in the javelin throw event and was the only Indian athlete to win a medal. India's first ever medal in World Athletics Championships was Bronze (long jump event) and was won by Anju Bobby George in 2003 in Paris.
