'WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh May Run Abroad': Bajrang Punia's Big Claim Amid Sexual Harassment Charges Row
The country's top wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia and world championship medallist Vinesh Phogat, are staging a protest against the WFI President at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
New Delhi: Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Bajrang Punia has made a big claim in the Brij Bushan Singh controversy. The star Indian wrestler reckons that the Wrestling Federation Of India President (WFI) Brij Bushan Singh may run abroad amid allegations of sexual harassment of female wrestlers against him for several years. The country's top wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia and world championship medallist Vinesh Phogat, are staging a protest against the WFI at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
On Wednesday Vinesh had levelled serious accusations against the WFI President of Mental and Physical Harassment. Bajrang on Day 2 of the ongoing protests on Thursday said that if the wrestlers can fight for the country on the sporting arena, they are capable of fighting for their own rights. He said that the players stand united against the dictatorship of the WFI President and they do not need any help from a politician.
"The job of the federation is to support the players, take care of their sporting needs. If there is a problem, it has to be solved. But what if the federation itself creates the problem? Now we have to fight, we will not back down. #BoycottWFIPresident #BotcottWrestlingPresident," Bajrang had tweeted in Hindi on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the WFI President Brij Bushan Singh has denied all accusations against him. The BJP MP from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh stated said that he is "willing to be hanged" even if some of these allegations are found to be true. Singh has been the president of the WFI for nearly a decade.
