WATCH: A catch that won India the match and shocked Pakistan
New Delhi: Surprisingly, in an ODI, where batsmen almost murdered bowlers by scoring 693 runs, a catch turned out to be the hero. It was an Indian fielder who took one of the best outfield catches to shift the balance of the match.
When the Virat Kohli led Indian side is struggling with ‘butter fingers’, already dropping over a dozen catches in the ongoing Test series against England, we take you back to a match where Indian fielding stood out.
It was a return of the most intense rivalry of India and Pakistan after several years in 2004 and the stakes were high. Riding on a brilliant 99 by Rahul Dravid and a sparkling 79 by Virender Sehwag India posted a challenging target of 350 for Pakistan.
In reply, Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq played one of his best ODI innings to get his side close to India before being dismissed for 122. The game was heavily tilted towards Pakistan, as the hosts needed just 10 runs off 8 balls with 4 wickets remaining. Then came an outstanding catch from Mohammad Kaif to turn the tide in India’s favour, leaving Pakistani dressing room in shock.
India went on to win the match by 5 runs.
Watch the catch in the 30th minute of the video followed by the Pakistan team’s reaction.
