Virat Kohli, Neeraj Chopra, Sania Mirza And Others React As Sports Fraternity Offers Condolences After Odisha Train Accident

Following the tragic news, members from India's sports fraternity have come forward to offer their condolences.

One of the most deadliest train accidents of India in recent years took place in the Balasore district of Odisha last evening (May 2, 2023). As many as three trains were involved in a devastating accident. While one train collided with a good train which led to the derailment of many coaches, another passenger train hit the dereiled bogies of the other train, leading to the death of over 260 people and approximately 900 others injured, as per the recent update. While the Chennai-bound Coromandel Express had hit a good train, it was the Yesvantpur-Howrah Superfast-Howrah Superfast that hit the crashed coaches of the other train.

Following the tragic news, members from India's sports fraternity have come forward to offer their condolences. "Saddened to hear about the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured," ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli tweeted.

"So saddened to hear about the devastating train accident in Odhisa . My thoughts and prayers with the people and their families .strength and prayers," tennis icon Sania Mirza posted on Twitter.





"Heartbreaking news has been received of untimely death of more than 200 passengers in the painful train accident in Balasore, Odisha. May God give place to the departed souls in his holy feet and provide speedy recovery to the injured.  Om Shanti," wrestler Babita Phogat posted on social media.


Meanwhile, India's individial Olympic gold medallists Neeraj Chopra and Abhinav Bindra also offered their condolences.

"Woke up to read the news of the horrific tragedy in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of everyone affected. Om shanti," Chopra tweeted.


"Heartbreaking news from Odisha about the devastating train accident. My heart goes out to all those affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Please, let's all extend our support and prayers to them. May the injured recover swiftly," Bindra said in a tweet.
