Namibia vs Sri Lanka Highlights: An all-rounder performance from Namibian cricket team helped them pull off one of the biggest shock wins in cricketing history. World No. 14 Namibia defeated Asia Cup 2022 winners Sri Lanka by 55 runs in their round 1 match at Geelong on Sunday to start their T20 World Cup campaign on a positive note. Gerhard Erasmus, captain of Namibia cricket team, and some other players were seen getting emotional post the win. During the post-match interview, Erasmus said the day is historic for his side and they wish to qualify for Super 12 stage of the tournament.

"Incredible journey, last year was a special experience for us. We have started a great win, but lot of work to do throughout this tournament still. It has been a historic day for us. The opening day has been quite special but we want to kick on from here and qualify for the Super 12 stage.

"We understand the bigger picture as well. Credit goes to Pierre (de Bruyn) the way he has installed coaching to this team, one that is a winning culture and one that sticks together. With the limited resources, I do not think there is anyone else that could run such a tight ship," said Namibia skipper Erasmus in a post-match presentation.

Put to bat first by Sri Lanka, Namibia were off to a cautious start. They were 95/6 after 15 overs but scored some quick runs in the final five overs to put a respectable total on board. Jan Frylinck (44 off 28 balls) and JJ Smit (31* off 16 balls) helped their side reach 163/7 in 20 overs. Chasing 164, Sri Lanka were bowled out in 19 overs for just 108 runs.
