New Zealand star cricketer Sophie Devine has created history! Devine now holds the record for making the fastest century in the history of Women's T20 Cricket. In the Super Smash Competition of New Zealand, Sophie scored a century off just 36 balls. The New Zealand captain hit 9 sixes and 9 fours in her magnificent century innings and remained unbeaten after making 108 runs. In her innings, she played a total of 38 balls.

Sophie Devine's team Wellington chased down the target of 129 runs in 8.4 overs. The team scored at the rate of 15.59. This was Sophie's first match in any format since the Woman Big Bash League (WBBL) last November. Interestingly, she has come out of the 14-day quarantine on Sunday itself.

West Indies' Chris Gayle holds the record for fastest T20 century in men's cricket. He scored a century off 30 balls in the Indian Premier League. After the match, Sophia said, "I was nervous in the morning. Whenever you stay away from the game for a long time you become nervous. For me it was just playing smart cricket. I thought that if I keep myself around the crease, then I can score. I also took advantage of the field."
