Shami's fi-fer takes India to victory in Johannesburg
Johannesburg [South Africa], Jan. 27 (ANI): Mohammed Shami on Saturday took a five wicket haul at the New Wanderers Stadium, helping India win the third and final Test match against South Africa by 63 runs.
Chasing a total of 241, the South African team choked, losing the last eight wickets for just 38 runs.
However, the monumental collapse saw opener Dean Elgar standing tall. Elgar, who was hit on the head by a short ball from Jasprit Bumrah on Day 3, carried his bat at 86.
Wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, and Morne Morkel were all out on a duck.
Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma picked up two wickets each, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar scalped one.
Kumar, who made 30 in the first innings and 33 in the second innings, picked up four wickets in the match. He was declared 'Player of the Match'.
South Africa have won the three match Test series 2-1.
The six match One Day International (ODI) series will begin on February 1 in Durban. (ANI)
