New Delhi: ‘Six sixes in an over’ isn’t a feat you get to see more often and when you do you definitely don’t see the batsman ending up on the losing side. Sunday’s Natwest T20 blast game between Worcestershire and Yorkshire offered both as Worcestershire’s Ross Whiteley hit six sixes in an over from Karl carver that also contained a wide but it was not enough to secure victory for his side. Sheffield-born Whiteley became only the sixth man to achieve the feat in world cricket. Whiteley said: "It was the right time in the game for me to go for it. It was all or nothing. Unfortunately for the bowler it was a short boundary on the leg-side.” "I had the mentality that I was going to go for it before I got in. I hit the first out of the screws and needed to keep going for the team, not for that achievement. It's something I never really thought I'd do in professional cricket. However, Whiteley’s 26 ball 65-run effort could not take Rapids over the finishing line as finished on 196 for 7, 37 run short of the target. "Personal milestone are great, but it's hard to get away from the defeat. It's pretty tough to take. We've lost four out of five and are right down at the bottom. Obviously we have to bounce back. There's no reason why we can't.", added the 28 year old. Earlier, David Willey’s 55 ball 118 enabled Yorkshire to put on mammoth 234 runs and it was Willey who later accounted for Whiteley when he was going all guns blazing. Whiteley's assault on spinner Carver was not the only incident-packed over in Worcestershire's game against Yorkshire. Australian John Hastings was also on the receiving end as one of his three overs for the Rapids cost him 34 runs.
