A brilliant all-round effort from the entire team led by Virat Kohli helped Royal Challengers Bangalore register their first win in the Indian Premier League against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE on September 21. Despite no cheers coming in from the stands, Team Virat bossed it in their first match of the IPL tournament. From first being put in to bat to then off across the field, RCB men did not disappoint their fans at all. RCB started to pave their way for the first victory with a tremendous start put up by openers Padikkal and Finch who continued their partnership and the duo added 90 for the first wicket. Padikkal stood out as a fire opener as he first forced Bhuvneshwar and Sandeep to shorten their lengths to offer him a swing, and then he took on T Natarajan to earn good on the cards. In the middle of the match, RCB did receive a set back after losing two major wickets. First, a straight from Abhishek Sharma making Finch to lose his wicket, followed by the removal of captain Kohli, who returned to the pavilion at just 14 runs. From 90/0, the team went onto be 123/3. However, half-centuries from Padikkal and de Villiers made the chase not-so-easy for the David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had the target of 164 runs. When put at bowling, RCB again performed fantastically with Yuzi Chahal becoming the player of the match. Chahal's magic was on throughout the match as he took two back to back wickets. Jonny Bairstow bowled out after scoring fifty and Vijay Shankar loses his wicket on the first ball. Similarly, fans take a bow Navdeep Saini as he took out Rashid Khan of SRH. Team Warner appeared to be struggling through the match. Initially, the fielder let go of the catches and even served at lengths. Though some brilliant once came from Abhishek Sharma, the overall performance of the team remained law. What added more to the plight was the injury of Rashid Khan mid-match.
