West Indies All-Rounder Kieron Pollard Announces Retirement From International Cricket
Kieron Pollard represented the West Indies in international cricket for 15 long years and it was expected that he might serve his national team for a few more years.
New Delhi: In what comes as shocking news for cricket lovers all over the world, dashing all-rounder Kieron Pollard dropped a bombshell by announcing his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. Pollard represented the West Indies in international cricket for 15 long years and it was expected that he might serve his national team for a few more years. The veteran is currently in India, where he is representing Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Pollard is expected to continue playing in T20 leagues all over the world. As far as his international numbers are concerned, Pollard played 123 ODIs, scoring 2706 runs and taking 55 wickets. He is ranked as one of the best T20I batsmen in the world. Pollard had scored 1568 runs in 101 matches at a strike rate of 135.14. He last played in India in February 2022, when he led West Indies in ODIs and T20Is that the visiting team lost.
Explaining his massive decision, Pollard wrote: “After careful deliberation, I have today decided to retire from international cricket. As is the case for many young persons, it was a dream of mine to represent the West Indies team from the time I was a boy of 10 years and I am proud to have represented West Indies cricket for over 15 years in both the T20i and ODI forms of the game.”
