Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, is all set to pair up with the recently crowned French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz for the men's doubles competition at the forthcoming Paris Olympics. While Nadal will play the doubles with Alcaraz, he has also been chosen for the singles competition, something which the captain of the Spain side, David Ferrer, confirmed on Wednesday (June 12).
The duo will make for a formidable pairs on display at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. While Alcaraz became the first-time winner of the Roland Garros this year, Nadal has won the French Open alone 14 times. With the Olympic games set to be played on the clay court of Paris, it will be tough to get past the duo who have a good record on this surface with Nadal even referred to as the King of Clay.

Nadal had gone on record in the past sharing his determination to represent Spain in the Paris Olympics. This is likely to be the 38-year-old's final year on the ATP tour as a professional. He may have lost in the first round of the French Open in May but remained committed to representing Spain in the Paris Olympics.

"My body has been a jungle for two years. You don't know what to expect. I wake up one day and I find a snake biting me. Another day a tiger. I have been fighting with all the things that I went through. But the dynamic is positive the last few weeks. I felt ready. I think tomorrow I'll be ready to play again if I have to. But I will not have to," Nadal said after his first-round exit at French Open.

"So that's the thing. Now, I need to prepare myself, I need to clear my ideas and see what's the new calendar to try to be ready for Olympics. I can't say anything today, but my main goal now is to play the Olympics," he added.
