Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2022: Babar Azam is facing severe criticism from fans and former players after Pakistan's back-to-back losses in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. No doubt that Pakistan has one of the best pace attacks in the world, but its middle-order vulnerability has become its biggest weakness. Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram was one among many who openly slammed Babar and Pakistan team management after shock defeat against Zimbabwe, pointing out that veteran middle-order batter Shoaib Malik should have been picked in Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad.
"From past one year, we knew that middle-order is weak. Shoaib Malik is sitting here. If I was captain, what would have been my end goal? To win the World Cup! I would go to any means to achieve that. If I want Shoaib Malik in my team, I will tell chairman and selectors that I won't play in the World Cup if I don't get my player," Akram had said on A Sports.
Meanwhile, a fan criticised Wasim Akram for turning on his views regarding Shoaib Malik's place in Pak's T20 World Cup team.
A fan asked Akram, "When you were asked to pick your T20 World Cup team in a show, you didn't pick Malik. Apart from Azam in place of Haider, he kept the same team."
Akram came up with a savage response to shut the fan down, saying that it happened during a series.
“Bohot time hai aapke paas. This happened during a series. As an ex-cricketer and commentator, jab mere se pucha jaata hai ki aap apni XI banaayein, this is the last thing I want to do. It's so boring. Toh mujhe vo team dete hain, main kehta hu haan ye hi theek hai,” said Akram. “You think main vahan baithkar poori kitaabein nikaalkar likhta hu? No, I don't," he said.
