'Proud She Brought Name & Fame To Country': PV Sindhu's Parents Over Shuttler's Historic Bronze

Hyderabad: Extremely ecstatic on his daughter’s feat at the Tokyo Olympics, star shuttler P.V. Sindhu’s father P.V. Ramana thanked the nation, specially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for inspiring her before the mega sporting event.
“I will thank everyone. I am grateful to the media. Yesterday, I motivated her a lot. I am happy that she has become the first Indian woman player to win two medals in the Olympics,” he said.
The badminton star’s father also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for encouraging her.
“I think she is coming on Aug 3. I am planning to go to Delhi. We have to get as many medals as we can for country at Olympics. The PM encouraged her and told Sindhu that we will eat ice-cream together after returning from Tokyo. Now, she will eat ice-cream with PM,” he said.
Sindhu’s mother P. Vijayaa also appeared to be on cloud nine and said the win deserves to be celebrated.
“We are very happy. She won two medals, a silver at Rio Olympics and a bronze in Tokyo. We will definitely celebrate. She was a little upset yesterday. We simply asked her to relax and play well,” ANI quoted her as saying.
Up against an opponent, who had beaten her nine times so far in the last 15 meetings, Sindhu showed great determination to outplay Bing Jiao by 21-13 and 21-15 with her aggression to scoop India's third medal at Tokyo.
She secured bronze medal in the women's singles event, becoming the second Indian and the country's first woman to win two Olympic medals. Her first came when she lost the finals of the Rio 2016 Olympics to Carolina Marin of Spain. Sindhu had won a silver medal in 2016.
