Manu Bhaker 4th in women's 25-meter air pistol final: Indian pistol shooter Manu Bhaker missed out on completing a historic hat-trick of Olympic medals. After a shoot-off between Manu and the Hungarian shooter for elimination, the Haryana shooter finished in 4th place in the 25m Air Pistol Final on Saturday (August 3).
So far, India has won all three of its medals so far in shooting: Manu Bhaker won two broze, and Swapnil Kusale bagged bronze in the 50m rifle three positions event.
Manu had a shaky start in the finals, registering only two hits in the first series. However, she made a strong comeback with four hits in the next series, climbing to fourth place. After three series, Manu Bhaker has climbed to a joint 2nd place with 10 points.
The 22-year-old held the silver-medal position after the third and fourth eliminations, staying in second place behind Korea’s Jiin Yang.

At Tokyo 2020, Manu Bhaker participated in two events but did not advance to any finals. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, she competed in three events, made it to all three finals, and won two bronze medals, solidifying her legacy as a shooting superstar.
Earlier on Friday (August 2), Bhaker finished second in the qualification round of the women's 25-meter air pistol event. She scored 294 in the precision round and 296 in the rapid round, totaling 590 points with 24 X's. Veronica from Hungary topped the qualification, scoring 294 in the precision round and 298 in the rapid round.
With this qualification, Manu Bhaker competed in her third consecutive event final. She previously reached the finals in women’s 10-meter air pistol and 10-meter air pistol mixed team events with Sarabjot Singh, securing bronze in both. Manu is also the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympics.
