Lindsey Vonn 'hurt' by backlash to her Trump comments

England [UK], December 16 (ANI): Lindsey Vonn recently made some critical comments about United States President Donald Trump, but the Olympic skiing sensation is now shocked and hurt by the backlash she has received since her remarks.

American alpine ski racer had earlier, in an interview to a media company, said that she would "absolutely not" visit the White House if invited.

She also said that Trump does not represent America well in the world and she would represent the people of the U.S., not the President.

Vonn took to Instagram to post her response over the criticism she has received since her Trump comments, reports People.

Two-time Olympic medallist sustained a back injury recently and she wrote that people have wished for personal damage on her.

"My recent comments opened up my eyes as to how divided we are right now. It is hurtful to read comments where people are hoping I break my neck or that God is punishing me for being 'anti-Trump'," she wrote.

In her post, Vonn also clarified that by her words, "I would represent the people of the US, not the president", she meant that Olympians represent their nations as a whole, rather than a specific political party, leader or agenda.

Vonn has won four World Cup overall championships-one of only two female skiers to do so. She has also won a record eight World Cup season titles in the downhill discipline. (ANI)
