Benzema, Ronaldo lead Real Madrid to Club World Cup final

Yokohama: Goals from Frenchman Karim Benzema and Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo helped Spanish football giants Real Madrid advance to the final of the Club World Cup, defeating Mexico's Club America 2-0 here on Thursday. Benzema scored first from an assist executed by German Toni Kroos in the last minute of the added time of the first half. Ronaldo had several chances in the match at the International Stadium Yokohama, including a header that hit the post, reports Efe. Ronaldo kept on wasting chances in the second half too. However, just before the final whistle, he managed to finally score from an assist by his Colombian team-mate James Rodriguez. Madrid will be playing the final next Sunday against Japanese side Kashima Antlers, which defeated Atletico Nacional in the semi-final on Wednesday. This is the second time Real Madrid have qualified to the Club World Cup final after 2014 in Morocco, in which they beat Argentina's San Lorenzo. Kashima have reached the final on their first participation, becoming the first Japanese side to do so. Club America will play for third place against Atletico Nacional next Sunday.
