While VVS Laxman was not interested in renewing his contract as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru was already being reported, in a fresh development, a media report has claimed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are interested in roping in his services in its coaching staff.

A media report carried by TOI claims that LSG want Laxman to come on board before the mega-auction. The former India batter's stint with NCA will end in September. The same report also said that Laxman, was in fact, the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) first choice to replace Rahul Dravid as the head coach but he declined the offer due to his reluctance to travel with the team extensively.


Ultimately, it was Gautam Gambhir who was appointed as Team India's new head coach. Meanwhile, it is being learnt, that ex-India batting coach Vikram Rathour, who was part of the coaching staff headed by Dravid, is likely to Laxman's successor at the NCA, in case the reports of him not renewing his stint at NCA turns out to be true.


LSG Have Had Informal Talks With Laxman


Even though TOI report said that LSG were interested in getting the services of Laxman and even had informal talks with the Hyderabadi star, the same report was quick to add that nothing concrete has happened yet. There is a lot of shuffle expected to happen ahead of IPL 2025 especially with a mega-auction in place before that season.
