Indian cricket team’s star batter, Shubman Gill, pleasantly surprised Francis Xavier, the father of Gujarat Titans' recent recruit Robin Minz, at the Bisra Munda Airport in Ranchi on February 28 (Wednesday). The right-handed batter took a moment to meet and greet the retired Army man, who currently serves as a security official at the airport. This encounter occurred as Shubman Gill was departing the city after the 4th India vs England Test match in Ranchi.

After India's triumphant five-wicket win, Gill encountered Francis Xavier, the father of Robin Minz, who is employed in the security department at the Ranchi airport. Expressing his enthusiasm about being teammates with Minz for Gujarat Titans in the upcoming 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the batsman shared his excitement in an Instagram story.

"Honoured to meet Robin Minz's father. Your journey and hard work has been inspiring. Looking forward to seeing you in the IPL," wrote Gill for the picture in his Instagram story.

It is noteworthy that Shubman Gill will be the new captain for the Gujarat-based side in IPL 2024. He takes over from the talismanic all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was traded to his former franchise, Mumbai Indians, in an all-cash deal.

Story Of Robin Minz

Robin Minz created considerable excitement at the IPL 2024 mini-auction in Dubai, sparking a bidding war involving Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Eventually, Gujarat Titans secured his services for ₹3.60 crore.

At 21 years old, Robin Minz holds the distinction of being the first tribal cricketer to be a part of the IPL. Gujarat Titans will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign with a match against Mumbai at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 24.

Coming to the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series, the fifth and final match of the series is scheduled to be held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala from March 7 to 11. India have already won the series and are leading by 3-1.
