MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend, is continuing to win play important knocks for his team even at 42. The wicketkeeper-batter only gets a few balls to make an impact for his side but even at the twilight of his career, he has been able to play crucial knocks for his side. In IPL 2024, Dhoni managed to play an impactful cameo in almost every match that he batted and even remained not out in his first 7 innings.

However, in CSK's home game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday (May 1), Dhoni was dismissed for the first time in IPL 2024. While the Master Finisher was set to remain not out yet again, a last-ball run out ended his innings and broke his streak of unbeaten knocks this season. Dhoni tried to come back for a second but Harshal Patel recovered quickly after an initial misfield to give the ball to the keeper Jitesh Sharma who dislodged the bail in time to catch Dhoni short of his crease.

Soon after Dhoni's dismissal, his fans flocked to Jitesh Sharma's Instagram handle and hurled abuses at the PBKS star for running out the five-time IPL-winning captain.


CSK In Top Four Of IPL 2024 Despite Defeat Against PBKS


As far as CSK are concerned, the Men in Yellow still find themselves at the fourth place with 5 wins from 10 matches. On the other hand, PBKS are at the seventh place with more defeats than wins against their name, succumbing to a defeat in 6 of the 10 matches to see themselves at the seventh place on the table. Only Gujarat Titans (GT), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are stacked below PBKS on the IPL 2024 table.
