LSG vs GT, IPL 2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Gujarat Script Epic Comeback Win By 7 Runs

Background

Lucknow Super Giants will host Gujarat Titans in the first of the twin IPL 2023 matches scheduled on Saturday (April 22). Lucknow have won two of the three home games at the Ekana Stadium this season. However, the highlight has been the contrasts in the nature of the two of their pitches so far. While one pitch has been the one where there has been a lot of assistance for the pacers, the one which was prepared by red-soil, the other one, a black-soil pitch has helped their spinners.

Given that LSG have a more well-rounded spin attack than their opposition for this afternoon game, they might look to play this match on the black-soil surface. On the other hand, teams may look to bat first in this heat of Lucknow. As far as fitness issues are concerned, Lucknow's Mark Wood after a great start has been forced to miss games due to an illness and it would be interesting to see if he is fit for this game.

As far as Gujarat are concerned, they do have any known injury or availability concerns and should be able to play their best team for this match.

Lucknow, at this stage, are slightly ahead with 8 points when compared to Gujarat's six. While LSG are placed second on the points table, GT are at the fourth place but then the defending champions have also played a game less when compared to Lucknow's six. In case, GT win this contest it would be the net run rate that would differentiate both the sides with Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings already at 8 points from 6 matches.

In their most recent encounter, LSG registered a 10-run win over RR while GT lost to the same opposition by 3 wickets in their last encounter.
