Don't Know How This Has Happened: KL Rahul After LSG's Dramatic Loss To GT
KL Rahul started off by playing a maiden over, ended powerplay at 30* off 19 and eventually departed for 68 off 61 as his team failed to chase 136 to win.
Fans were treateted to yet another thriller of a game at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Saturday. Lucknow Super Giants hosted Gujarat Titans in this afternoon fixture and even though it was the home which seemed to have dominated the majority of the match, for the last few overs it was Gujarat who held their nerve and eventually came out on to register a memorable win.
However, following LSG's dramatic defeat which saw them failing to score even a single boundary in the last seven overs, captain KL Rahul appeared short of words. Such is the nature of the sport that ectstasy for one side means heartbreak for the other and this will surely be a hard pill to swallow for the KL Rahul-led side as they failed to get the 39 needed to win from 45 balls which was what the need of the match at one stage with 9 wickets in hand.
Rahul eventually got out in the last over in search of a boundary and couldn't get his side past the winning line, departing for 68 off 61. When asked to share his thoughts on how the game had slipped away from their pockets, with the home team losing 4 wickets in the final over, Rahul looked to fall short of words at first.
"I don't know how this has happened. It has happened so fast. I still cannot put a finger on it," the LSG skipper said while interacting with Ian Bishop at the end of the game.
"I don't know how it has happened. It happened too fast. I can't put a finger on where we let the game slip, which was in our pocket," he added.
"At the end of the day it is just a game, we still have four wins in seven, but this is going to sting for a while. We were well ahead in the game, I wasn't trying to bat really deep, I was still trying to take the bowlers on that I fancy," Rahul told the broadcasters.
Despite the defeat, LSG continue to be at the second place on the points table for now with 8 points from 7 matches.
