As per a report carried by Dainik Jagran, there are talks underway between Gautam Gambhir and Kolkata Knight Riders about Gambhir taking on the position of mentor for KKR in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. From 2011 to 2017, the former India opener enjoyed a spectacular stint with KKR. The left-handed batter was named KKR captain in 2011 and held the position until 2017. Under his leadership, KKR overcame a poor run in the tournament to win the IPL for the first time in 2012.

They repeated their success in 2014, winning the title for the second time with a victory over Punjab Kings in 2014. Since then, KKR has only appeared in one IPL final (in 2021). Gambhir is well-versed with the KKR management, and his addition to the team will be a significant benefit for them.

Fans stormed Twitter and there were heaps of reactions in favour of Gautam Gambhir’s return to KKR.

While there has been no official announcement from LSG regarding the changes in coaching staff, social media went into overdrive with fans speculating on where Gambhir would go if he leaves the franchise.
