Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor, Gautam Gambhir named his "most important buy" on the first day of IPL Mega-Auction. It is none other than the young fiery pacer, Avesh Khan.
Avesh Khan became the highest-earning uncapped player ever at the IPL as the LSG made a staggering 10 crore bid for the pacer. After having Mark Wood in their ranks, LSG wanted to have a strong Indian bowler in their line-up. Avesh Khan is a bowler who can bowl upto 145 kmph on a regular basis, thus, he was an instant pick.
Gambhir, the LSG mentor was saying how Quinton de Kock and Jason Holder's buy were crucial for the team. Gambhir was quick to mention hi "most important buy" in the same breathe.
Speaking on Sports Tak, Gautam Gambhir said, “With these two (De Kock and Holder) add Avesh Khan to the list as well. The reason being that for an Indian fast bowler to deliver at a speed of 140-145kmph. De Kock is a world-class batsman, he can open the batting. Holder is multi-dimensional, can bowl and bat. But an express fast bowler with Mark Wood, that was my most important buy in this auction. Because there are very few Indian fast bowlers who can bowl at that speed.”
Lucknow are building a good team around KL Rahul, but the second day of Auction would need the LSG guys to step up and get some bargain deals as they do not have a lot in their kitty.
