The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by MS Dhoni, are set to play the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on March 22 in Chennai, where they will face off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). On February 22 (Thursday), the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) disclosed a preliminary schedule for the 2024 season, covering the initial 17 days from March 22 to April 7, featuring a total of 21 matches. CSK will commence their title defence at their home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Following tradition, the defending champions kick off the new edition. CSK secured victory against GT in last year's exciting IPL final.
