After playing their last set of home games on Sunday, the Chennai Super Kings team took a lap of honor around the MA Chidambaram Stadium and thanked all the fans for their unconditional support. MS Dhoni was the center of attraction for the fans at the Chepauk on Sunday night but then his team could not end on a good note as they lost the game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, it was a dream come true moment for KKR’s star Rinku Singh as he got a special gift from MS Dhoni. The Southpaw received his KKR jersey signed by CSK’s skipper.
Talking about the high-octane game, CSK decided to bat first and were stopped at below average total of 144 runs in their 20 overs, kudos to Shivam Dube for his 48 out in 34 balls, Devon Conway’s 30 runs and also Jadeja for scoring crucial 20 runs. Shivam also stitched a 68-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja. For KKR, veteran spinner Sunil Narine was the star with the ball as he picked up 2 for 15 in his four overs.
While chasing down 145, KKR were also reeling at one point in time as they were 33 for 3. But then a 99-run partnership was made between Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh helping their team reach the total in just 18.3 overs with six wickets in hand. Rana scored 57 in 44 balls while Rinku made 54 off 43 and powered their team to victory.
Earlier, KKR skipper Nitish Rana has been fined Rs. 24 lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate during their IPL match against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. It’s not only just Rana who has been fined but all the members who were there in the Playing XI, including the impact substitute, have been fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, as per the press release from IPL stated.
