The Punjab franchise had a good outing in the 2014 edition of the IPL held in the UAE when then ended as up as the losing finalist to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The KL Rahul-led team would be looking at a similar run in this edition of the T20 league.
Punjab desperately needs a revival to their dwindling fortunes in the IPL and would look to end the tournament in the top half of the table after being tagged as perennial underachievers over the past few seasons which saw them finishing in the bottom half of the table.
Kings Eleven will be led by their batting spearhead KL Rahul, who will also be making his debut as IPL skipper for the very first time. Rahul will be the 12th player to lead KXIP, the joint-most number of captains any franchise has ever had in the IPL along with Delhi Capitals.

KXIP roped in Australia's destructive strokemaker Glen Maxwell to add meat to their batting down the order and also have the hard hitting veteran Windies opener Chris Gayle to provide the fiery starts at the top of the order.
Kings XI Punjab had released 12 players before the 2019 IPL auction held in December in Kolkata and then splurged over Rs 68 crore to buy the T29 stalwarts like Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Bishnoi, Chris Jordan among others.
