RCB won the toss and elected to field first, inviting Gujarat to bat first. While GT did not get off to a good start, Sai Sudharsan's unbeaten 49-ball 84 and Shahrukh Khan's 30-ball 58 ensured Gujarat post a formidable 200/3.
In response, RCB got off to a splendid start and even though Faf du Plessis (24 off 12) inside the powerplay, an unbeaten 100 from Will Jacks (100* off 41) coupled with a 44-ball 70* from Kohli meant Bengaluru chased down the target in 16 overs without breaking a sweat. Jacks was at his devastating best in this innings and smashed 10 maximums in his knock as Bengaluru registered their third win of the season.

GT vs RCB, IPL 2024: Glenn Maxwell Not Needed With The Bat
Even though RCB backed Glenn Maxwell for this match, his services was not required with the bat. Maxwell, however, scalped a wicket in the 3 overs that he got to bowl and finished with figures of 1/28. Swapnil Singh (1/23 off his 3 overs) and Mohammed Siraj (1/34 off 4 overs) were the other wicket-takers for RCB. In the second innings, R Sai Kishore managed to find the only wicket that the team got, getting rid of Faf du Plessis and going for 30 runs in his 3 overs.

Despite the win, RCB continue to be at the rock bottom of the IPL 2024 points table because of their inferior net run rate (NRR) at -0.415. PBKS and MI are the two other teams that are tied at 6 points but with a better NRR.
