The Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2024 began with the inaugural match between perennial rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22, followed by the highly awaited encounter between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) the following day in Mohali. Interestingly, only the schedule for the first 21 matches until April 7 was announced initially due to date clash with the country's Lok Sabha Elections. However, on Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the remaining schedule of the IPL 2024, confirming that the final will be held in Chennai on May 26th.
IPL season 2024 season carries particular importance for Delhi Capitals, as their regular captain, Rishabh Pant, made his comeback after missing the previous edition due to a life-threatening accident. Pant's absence, stemming from a car accident in December 2022, led to his absence from cricketing activities for over a year.
Under Pant's leadership, DC feature a strong squad comprising notable players like Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mitchell Marsh, Kuldeep Yadav and David Warner. The addition of Kumar Kushagra, who secured a significant Rs. 7.20 crore deal at the auction, adds to the team's depth.
