New Delhi: In a prolific match on Sunday, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bounced back in the IPL season by winning against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 10 wickets. On their victory, captain MS Dhoni's wife Sakshi Dhoni took to the photo sharing website to praise Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis after their record partnership that set the tone for the team’s victory in Dubai. The Chennai squad had to chase a target of 179 runs, CSK openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis emerged stronger with their batting that kept the bowlers under pressure.

Since the Chennai team lost in three consecutive games, it was a comeback for the team who exhibited their stellar performance against KXIP and jumped from the 8th spot to 6th spot on the points table.

Both batsmen showed phenomenal partnership that led the CSK team to winning and added illustrious 181 runs for the first wicket. In fact, the duo managed to create a record opening partnership in CSK's history to ensure their team got the two points comfortably against KL Rahul's men.

The Watson-Du Plessis duo broke the record for the previous best opening stand off 159 runs for the first wicket between Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey. The third highest partnership for CSK in the IPL was registered between Murali Vijay and Albie Morkel (152 for third wicket).

The match witnessed Waston coming back in form with a terrific unbeaten 83 off 53 balls comprising 11 fours and three sixes, while Du Plessis continued his streak with an unbeaten 87 off 53 balls in 11 fours and one six.

Dhoni's wife Sakshi Dhoni also reacted to CSK's dominant win. Sakshi took to Instagram to express happiness over the match by posting a picture of Watson and Du Plessis in her story and applauded them for their stellar act. "Class act," she wrote in her story.

Watson has been trying to keep up with his form but failed to exhibit it in CSK's first four matches thereby raising doubts on his position in the team. However, he was not dropped from the team and the performance against KXIP reimposed their faith on the Australian player.

At present, the Chennai squad is still struggling at the bottom half of the table after their victory since the team has 4 points from 5 games, but aiming to continue their winning streaks against Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match on Wednesday.
