'Greatest Batter In This Country': Kevin Pietersen Compares Cristiano Ronaldo And Virat Kohli
Talking about Virat Kohli's much-awaited return to form, Kevin Pietersen asserted that both Ronaldo and Kohli are 'two similar brands in their different teams and in their sports.'
New Delhi: England cricket team's former player Kevin Pietersen went on to compare Manchester United star player Cristiano Ronaldo and ex-skipper of team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Virat Kohli. Pietersen's comparison of Kohli with one of the most respected athletes of the world comes at a time when the RCB batter has started returning back to his usual batting form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Both Virat and Ronaldo are considered among the greatest ever in their respective fields, across generations. Virat finally ended his poor run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after scoring his first fifty of the season. Thought it was not a usual Kohli knock as Virat's maiden fifty in IPL 2022 was one of the slowest ever across all IPL seasons of his career.
Talking about Virat's much-awaited knock, Pietersen asserted that both Ronaldo and Kohli are 'two similar brands in their different teams and in their sports.'
"What he needs to do is to have a look at Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo. Two similar brands in their different teams and in their sports. You have Virat Kohli right at the top of cricket, his brand is right at the top of cricket. Cristiano Ronaldo is right at the top of football. One plays for Manchester United, and one plays for RCB and India. Those are big brands and they are going to be talking points. Those big brands also want to maintain their status in the game by winning," Pietersen told Star Sports.
The veteran also hailed Kohli as the greatest batter in India.
"Virat Kohli's greatest attribute, how many games he has won for India while chasing. Virat Kohli is my greatest batter in this country because he has won so many games for India chasing. That is something you look at, that is something he cherishes and is so proud of," Pietersen added.
