New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star batter KL Rahul (103 runs off 60 balls) scored his second unbeaten hundred against five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he hammered the Mumbai bowlers for fours and sixes all over the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday.
KL Rahul was flawless tonight with his stroke-making against Mumbai's bowling attack as he performed brilliantly in the 100th IPL match of his career. THE LSG skipper scored the third century of his IPL career off just 56 balls and scored his first century in IPL 2022.
Just after scoring his scintillating ton, the right-handed batsman celebrated his success by covering his ears and closing his eyes, which caught the attention of fans. He had pulled off the exact same celebration after scoring his ODI ton against England at Pune, last year. The video of KL Rahul's 'shut the outside noise' went viral on social media.
Last year, when commentators had asked Rahul about his celebration, he had revealed that it was to 'shut out noise'.
“It (the celebration) is just to shut out the noise, not to disrespect anyone. There are people out there who try to pull you down, at times you need to neglect them. So that’s just a message to shut out that noise,” Rahul said.
Today, Rahul became the second player to score a century in IPL 2022. Earlier, Rajasthan Royals' Jos Buttler had scored a ton in this year's IPL. Rahul scored the third century of his IPL career and second against Mumbai Indians.
Also, by scoring a century today, Rahul has become the first player to score a century in his 100th IPL match.
