New Delhi: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that some 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and about 10,000 injured since Russia invaded the country on February 24.
"As to our military, out of the numbers we have, we think that we have lost 2,500 to 3,000... We have about 10,000 injured. It is hard to say how many will survive," said Zelenskyy while speaking to media house CNN, reported news agency ANI.
Zelenskyy was however, unable to provide the number of civilian casualties as it was difficult for its government to gather information from the "blocked" territories in the south and east of Ukraine.
On March 12, the Ukrainian authorities had said that 1,300 soldiers were killed due to the Russian invasion. Later, the government stopped releasing the number of loses suffered by the military as Oleksiy Arestovich, an adviser to the head of Ukraine's presidential office said it compromised military secret.
On the other hand, Russian Defense Ministry in March claimed that about 14,000 Ukrainian troops were killed and 16,000 injured since Moscow launched the invasion.
Meanwhile, Russia Intensified its attacks on Kyiv and targeted a military plant outside the Ukrainian capital Friday. The factory produced missiles allegedly used to hit Russia's Moskva warship that later sunk in Black Sea, reported AFP.
Russia said that the attack on the factory was carried out using Kalibr sea-based long-range missiles.
The strike came a day after Ukraine claimed it had hit the Russian warship Moskva and caused damage to it. The claims were refuted by Moscow that said a fire on the ship caused the damage which caused the ship to sink.
