India Will Win War Against Coronavirus: Sourav Ganguly

Coronavirus in India: Sourav Ganguly urged people to have a firm resolve that the nation gets all possible help to cope with the testing times

New Delhi: In an exclusive interview to ABP News, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly urged people to have a firm resolve that the nation gets all possible help to cope with the testing times as the government fights against COVID-19 outbreak. "This is a situation that no one has seen before in India or all over the world. I am now 46 years old, but for the first time in life, I am in front of such a situation. Not just the BCCI but every human being and every institution now have to contribute. As a nation, we are also trying to join this war against coronavirus with all the countries. That is the peculiarity of India," Sourav Ganguly told ABP News. PM Modi on Tuesday had announced a 3-week nationwide lockdown in India to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite PM's appeal, huge number of migrants travelled on foot for several kilometres after the transportation throughout Delhi was discontinued owing to lockdown. On being asked how one should get motivated in such depressing times, Sourav Ganguly said India will definitely overcome these circumstances and see a good day coming again. "Don't worry. Everything will be fine. I understand what is going on in everyone's mind. But I am confident that nobody will lose their jobs. The companies that are running, people in higher authority in rest of the sector's, all understand this situation. Everyone should stay at home, try to stay safe. We will definitely emerge from these circumstances and see a good day coming again," he said. Sourav Ganguly had pledged to donate rice worth 50 lakh to the needy people. "I do whatever I can, this is a small gesture from my side. Hope people will get help and that is what is expected. A good dream to see tomorrow," Sourab Ganguly said. On being asked to give tips on his part on how to keep yourself mentally and physiologically positive, Dada suggested considering the 21-day lockdown a holiday. "Consider it a holiday. And it is also contributing to the interest of the country. When is there a chance to make so much contribution by staying at home. There will be a lot of chance to work again when things improve," Ganguly said. "India will definitely win this war against coronavirus. This country has won every war and it will also win this time. We will set an example in front of the whole world," he concluded.
