Veteran R Ashwin Back In Playing XI For Ind vs Eng 3rd Test? Here's What Virat Kohli Revealed

Ind vs Eng: Virat Kohli said that he is not in favor of tampering with the team combination (4 fast bowlers and a spinner all-rounder) that won the previous Test at Lord's.

New Delhi: The much-awaited India vs England, 3rd Test is scheduled to take place at Headingley in Leeds from Wednesday. While England will aim to win their first Test in the series, team India, who have a 1-0 lead after the first two Tests, will try not to lose their winning streak and make it 2-0.

Ahead of the Ind vs Eng 3rd Test at Headingley, Virat Kohli made a very interesting statement during the press conference, regarding veteran R Ashwin's inclusion in the playing XI.

"We have got no reason to change anything unless people have niggles which we haven't encountered since we finished the last Test," said Kohli to the media in an interaction on Tuesday.

"Obviously, you don't want to disturb or interrupt a winning combination especially if the team has achieved such an incredible win in the second Test and is even more excited to take the field again," added Kohli.

Kohli, however, said that before making a final call on Ashwin, will assess the pitch on how it will help the spinners on Day 4 and 5.

"As far as Ashwin playing in concerned we are quite surprised to see the pitch the way it was. We could see a lot of surface which honestly I did not expect would be the case. I thought there would be lot of grass on the pitch. It will be more spicy and lively. But it won't be the case," said Kohli.

Virat Kohli also said that he is not in favor of tampering with the team combination (4 fast bowlers and a spinner all-rounder) that won the previous Test.

"So anything is possible. We always name a 12 and then on the day we have a look at the pitch and what it could become on Day 3 and Day 4 and accordingly we will go in with the right combination," added Kohli.

If Ashwin comes in, he could come in for Ravindra Jadeja.
