However, Shubhman Gill's father was disappointed that the young India opener did not score a century in the match. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has reacted to this.

Team India's opener Shubman Gill played a crucial 91-run innings in his team's second innings of Ind vs Aus Brisbane Test. After Australia quickly picked Rohit Sharma's big wicket on the fifth day of the Gabba Test, Gill stood tall and took India's innings ahead by facing 146 balls during his 91-run knock, that consisted of 2 sixes and 8 fours.

Shubman was eventually caught by Steve Smith off Australian spinner Nathan Lyon's delivery and missed out on a well-deserved century by just 9 runs.

“A century would have been good for his confidence. He was playing so well and I don’t know why all of a sudden he played away from his body,” said Shubman Gill's father Lakhwinder to The Times of India.

Indian cricket team's former star opener Virender Sehwag reacted to Lakhwinder Singh's statement via Instagram. Sharing a picture of the news clip in the newspaper, Sehwag wrote, "Aakhir Maa baap Toh Maa baap hi hain"
