India Beats China 1-0 In Asian Champions Trophy 2024 Final To Claim Record 5th Title

The Men in Blue triumphed over a resilient Chinese team, clinching back-to-back Asian Champions Trophy titles after their win in Chennai last year.

India vs China hockey match highlights: Indian men's hockey team, led by captain Harmanpreet Singh, defeated hosts China 1-0 in the Asian Champions Trophy final on September 17 (Tuesday), claiming their record-extending fifth title.

Ahead of today's final, India had previously defeated China 3-0 in the group stage.

Coming back to IND vs CHN Asian Champions Trophy final, neither team could find the back of the net in the first quarter, and the scoreline remained 0-0 by end of second quarter. At halftime, both teams locked in a goalless stalemate, setting stage for a dramatic second half.

With the Indian forwards unable to find the breakthrough, the defenders took charge. Harmanpreet Singh assisted Jugraj Singh, who scored a crucial field goal to break the deadlock.

China pushed hard to equalize, even pulling their goalkeeper to add an extra player, but India managed to preserve their lead, with the match ending 1-0 in their favor. The Men in Blue triumphed over a resilient Chinese team, clinching back-to-back Asian Champions Trophy titles after their win in Chennai last year.

India stormed into the final by defeating South Korea 4-1 in the semi-finals, while China reached the title match by prevailing in a penalty shoot-out against Pakistan. China's win over Pakistan helped them reach their first-ever Asian Champions Trophy final. India has claimed the Asian Champions Trophy title four times in the past.

India and China faced each other for the 7th time in Asian Champions Trophy. Out of their seven meetings in the tournament, India has now won six, with China having won just one match. That only victory for China came 18 years ago, during the 2006 Asian Champions Trophy.

India has a clear edge over China when it comes to their overall hockey matchups. The two nations have faced off 24 times. India has won 18 of these matches, while China has won 3, and 3 matches have ended in draws.
