Gibbs takes up T10 League coaching role
Johannesburg [South Africa], May 1 (ANI): Former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs, who is currently coaching the Kuwait cricket team, has been roped in by the T10 League franchise, the Rajasthani Heroes.
The 44-year-old, who appeared in 90 Tests, 248 ODIs and 23 T20Is for South Africa between 1996 and 2010, will be responsible to manage re-branded Rajasthani Heroes--formerly known as Team Sri Lanka.
Confirming the news, Gibbs took to his Twitter account and said,"Happy to announce that I've been appointed head coach of the @RajasthaniHeroes for the @T10LeagueTweets in Dubai later this year. Looking forward to some fireworks from the lads."
Besides Rajasthani Heroes, seven other teams will play in 10-over-a-side competition United Arab Emirates including Bengal Tigers, Karachians Maratha Arabians, Northern Warriors, Pakhtoon Team, Punjabi Legends, Rajasthani Heroes and last year's winners the Kerala Kings.
The 2018 edition of the T10 league will be played over the course of 10 days in December, Sport24 reported.
It was under Gibbs' leadership that Kuwait thrashed Saudi Arabia by five runs to finish third in the Western Sub Regional qualifiers and make it to the ICC World T20 Asia Finals along with UAE and Qatar.(ANI)
