Reigning UEFA Champions Real Madrid will be up against Premier League giants Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the competition this season. Meanwhile, Manchester City were drawn against Germany's Bayern Munich in the draw that took place on Friday (March 17). In a complete Italian contest, it will be Napoli taking on AC Milan while Inter Milan have been slated to play against Portuguese side Benfica.

Meanwhile, the winners of the Real Madrid vs Chelsea and the Manchester City vs Bayern Munich will meet in the semifinal which keeps the possibility of an all English semifinal contest on the cards. This leaves the winners of the other two matches Napoli taking on AC Milan and Inter Milan vs Benfica to lock horns in the other semifinal. Notably, there was a free draw for the quarter-finals which implied that there was no seedings or country protection.

However as AC Milan and Inter have the same stadium as their home and thus cannot play on the same night or within 24 hours, Inter's quarter-final match against Benfica was reversed with AC Milan being the Serie A champions given precedence.

"*FC Internazionale Milano's match has been reversed in accordance with the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee," UEFA Champions League wrote in its official announcement of the draws.

Interestingly, there was a draw for administrative purposes for the final after which it was decided that the winner of semi-final 2 will be 'home' team for the summit clash. This means who ever wins the semi-final 2 Real Madrid / Chelsea vs Man City / Bayern will host the titular contest.
