Sergio Ramos Joins Lionel Messi In Leaving Paris Saint-Germain
During his time at PSG, Ramos won the Ligue 1 title twice, appearing in 57 matches.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the reigning French Ligue 1 champions, made an official announcement on Friday stating that Sergio Ramos, the veteran former Spain defender, will be departing the club at the end of the season. 37-year-old Ramos joined PSG in 2021 following a highly successful stint with Real Madrid during which he clinched the prestigious Champions League trophy on four occasions. PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed immense gratitude to Ramos for his two years at the club, acknowledging his leadership, team spirit, professionalism, and invaluable experience at the highest level of football. Al-Khelaifi referred to Ramos as a true football legend and emphasized the honour the club had in having him in Paris. He extended his best wishes to Ramos for his future endeavors.
The timing of the announcement though, less than 24 hours before PSG's final Ligue 1 game against Clermont, came as a surprise. Ramos will now follow Lionel Messi, the Argentine World Cup winner in 2022, in departing from Parc des Princes. Unconfirmed reports have also linked Neymar, the Brazilian star, with a potential exit from the club.
Ramos took to social media to express his sentiments, stating that the following day would be a special day for him as he bids farewell to another chapter of his life and to PSG. He conveyed his gratitude to the club, the fans, and the city of Paris, describing PSG as one of the places where he truly felt at home. Ramos thanked everyone for the two exceptional years in which he participated in various tournaments and gave his all for the club.
Mañana será un día especial, mañana diré adiós a otra etapa de mi vida, adiós al @PSG_espanol.

During his time at PSG, Ramos won the Ligue 1 title twice, appearing in 57 matches. However, his first season was marred by injuries under the management of Mauricio Pochettino. This season, Ramos made 44 appearances, but PSG's ambitions in the UEFA Champions League were halted at the last 16 stage in both editions.
As news of Ramos' departure surfaced, speculations regarding Lionel Messi's next destination also emerged, with potential moves to Inter Miami, a Saudi Arabian club, or even a return to Barcelona being discussed. Furthermore, it was reported that PSG manager Christophe Galthier will also bid farewell to the club following this weekend's fixture, as the team's failure in European competitions has been a significant factor in his evaluation.
Looking ahead, PSG is rumored to have an interest in signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid and Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan as part of their rebuilding plans for the upcoming season. The club aims to reinforce its squad and make another strong push for European success.
