Meanwhile, goalkeeper Diogo Costa made history by saving all three of Slovenia’s attempts, becoming the first keeper to achieve this feat in a European Championship.
Portugal converted all four of their penalties, with Bernardo Silva securing the victory by scoring the fourth.
